Sebastian Vettel sets fastest FP3 time at 2011 Indian GP at Buddh International Circuit – Formula 1
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel topped the final practice session of the 2011 Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit on Saturday, October 29.
After the first two practice sessions, all the teams took part in the final practice session of the Indian race weekend. All the drivers finished their session by using the sets of soft and hard compounds after running at the Buddh International Circuit.
Vettel, who was unable to finish his FP1 and FP2 on top, has snatched the position from McLaren driver Jenson Button in the last moments of the practice session and finished his run at the top place in the end.
The double world champion set the fastest time of 1 minute and 24.824 seconds in FP3 ahead of Button, who ended up in the second spot with a gap of 0.367 seconds behind.
Button was closely followed by Red Bull Racing’s other driver Mark Webber, who set the third fastest time in the end of FP3.
On the fourth place was McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who had a gap of 0.464 seconds behind his teammate Button and after trying his best he finished his session ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in FP3.
Felipe Massa of Ferrari was on the top position in FP2. He could not retain his position in FP3, as his rivals were faster as compared to him. The Brazilian ended his session in the sixth spot with a gap of 1.234 seconds behind Button.
Force India drivers were again in a competitive form on the grid. The team duo Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil completed their runs at the seventh and ninth places respectively in FP3.
Nico Rosberg claimed eighth position for Mercedes GP at the end of the practice session.
Sebastien Buemi of Toro Rosso successfully finished his FP3 in the top ten positions. After putting all of his efforts, he came at the tenth place in the final FP3 classifications.
Hispania Racing Team and Virgin Racing Team were again found at the back of the field at the end of the final practice session in India.
Let’s see whether Red Bull Racing champion Vettel secures a pole place for Sunday’s race in the qualifying round scheduled to be held later on Saturday.
