Sebastian Vettel sets fastest time in FP2 of 2012 Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has set the fastest time in the second free Friday practice session of the 2012 Korean Grand Prix.
Vettel topped the timesheets with his best time of 1 minute and 38.832 seconds. Moreover, he was just 0.032 second ahead of his teammate, Mark Webber.
The Australian driver was followed by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who set the third best time of 1 minute and 39.160 seconds.
Jenson Button of McLaren set the fourth quickest time of 1 minute and 39.219 seconds and stayed ahead of the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes.
Felipe Massa of Ferrari came 6th in the timesheets and remained ahead of Schumacher’s teammate, Nico Rosberg. The veteran German driver was followed by Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who didn’t seem comfortable behind the wheel of his car as compared
to the morning session in which he set the fastest time.
The 2008 world champion stayed ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who was further followed by Lotus pair of drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. Besides, the French driver remained ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams.
Hulkenberg’s teammate, Paul di Resta came 13th in the charts and was followed by Sauber drivers, Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez.
The Mexican driver faced few technical problems in his car which limited his run in the second session and he could only cover 11 laps.
Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso came 16th in the timesheets and remained ahead of his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo who was further followed by Pastor Maldonado of Williams.
Although, the Venezuelan driver could not set an impressive pace, nonetheless, he managed to gather some important data regarding the update package as he completed 33 laps. Additionally, he was followed by Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham who stayed ahead
of Marussia drivers, Timo Glock and Charles Pic.
Pic remained ahead of Kovalainen’s teammate, Vitaly Petrov who was further followed by HRT drivers, Narain Karthikeyan and Pedro de la Rosa.
It will be interesting to see how all the teams show up in the third practice session and the qualifying at Korea International Circuit tomorrow.
