Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has topped the timesheets in the first free Friday practice session of 2012 Singapore Grand Prix held at Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Vettel set the best time of 1 minute and 50.566 seconds on soft Pirelli compound tyres and remained just 0.049s ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren. Moreover, Hamilton was followed by his teammate, Jenson Button who stood ahead of Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
It will be important to note that weather conditions were quite wet during the start of the session. However, the conditions improved afterwards and all the drivers seemed busy in collecting the essential information regarding their updates.
Pastor Maldonado of Williams set the 5th fastest time in FP1 and stayed ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull who struggled a bit behind the wheel of his car and could only come 6th in the timesheets.
The Australian driver was followed by Force India pair of drivers, Nico Hulkenberg and Paul di Resta. Furthermore, the Briton remained ahead of Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso who was further followed by Sergio Perez of Sauber.

The Brazilian driver was followed by Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso who stood ahead of Schumacher’s teammate, Nico Rosberg.
Timo Glock of Marussia came 19th in the timesheets and stayed ahead of Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham who was further followed by Glock’s teammate, Charles Pic.
