Sebastian Vettel sets the fastest time in FP2 of 2012 European GP – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has topped the timesheets in the second free Friday practice session of 2012 European Grand Prix which is to be held at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain.
The defending champion was followed by Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who showed an impressive pace during FP2 and came second on the timesheets.
Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber set the third best lap and changed his rear wing during the ending laps. The Japanese driver stayed ahead of Michael Schumacher of Mercedes who showed an incredible pace in his W03 after facing technical difficulties in five out
of first seven races.
The seven-time world champion was followed by Bruno Senna of Williams who remained ahead of Paul Di Resta of Force India.
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari set the seventh best time and remained busy with testing the updates which included some modifications in the aerodynamics and the floor of F2012. The Spaniard was followed by Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
The French driver remained ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull who was further followed by Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. Grosjean’s teammate, Kimi Raikkonen came 11th in the timesheets and stayed ahead of Jenson Button of McLaren. Moreover, it will be
important to mention that the 2009 world champion seemed contended with the car after struggling in the last four races.
Pastor Maldonado of Williams was quite off pace in the second session as he came 13th in the timesheets as compared to FP1 in which he set the quickest time.
The Venezuelan driver was followed by Lewis Hamilton of McLaren who could only set 14th fastest time in FP2. Hamilton remained ahead of Felipe Massa of Ferrari who was testing the new updates which the Italian team has planned for the upcoming
race.
Massa was followed by Sergio Perez of Sauber who remained ahead of Vitaly Petrov of Caterham. Furthermore, Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso came 18th in the timesheets and was followed by Heikki Kovalainen of the Hingham based team.
Besides, Ricciardo’s teammate, Jean-Eric Vergne could only set 20th best time and stayed ahead of Marussia pair of drivers, Timo Glock and Charles Pic who were further followed by HRT drivers, Narain Karthikeyan and Pedro de la Rosa.
