Sebastian Vettel sets the lead pace again in final Korean GP practice – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull Racing team dominates again as he sets the fastest time in the third practice session for the Korean Grand Prix.
Previously, in the second practice session held on Friday, Vettel had the set the quickest pace with a time of 1 minute and 38.832 seconds. Today, at the third free practice session, he led Red Bull again as he set a searing pace by 0.527 seconds. He improved
his own performance as he reached the finish line in the best time of 1 minute and 37.642 seconds.
Mark Webber, who is the second driver for Red Bull, failed to set a time in this session even though he came second on the chart during Friday’s practice session. The cause of this failure was his Renault Sport V8 engine as it did not start up due to a mapping
issue. The car was made ready to drive again but by that time, the final session had ended.
Red Bull had laid the grounds for being a strong competition in the second practice but with this particular enhanced performance by Vettel, they have only made the competition harder for their opponents.
Lewis Hamilton of the McLaren racing team had a better practice session than the previous one. Hamilton had finished at eight position on Friday. He improved his pace remarkably as he reached the second position on the chart his time being 1 minute and 38.169
seconds.
His teammate Jenson Button came in third making his time at 1 minute and 38.51 seconds. Button has also improved his position coming up one more step since he was at fourth position in the second practice session. Both Hamilton and Button look determined
to get McLaren in the second row as they compete to qualify at the Korean GP.
Falling behind the McLaren drivers was the Lotus racing team. Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen both came in fourth and fifth respectively.
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari finished at the sixth position merely behind the Lotus cars but that left him way behind Vettel who has been his competition for the title. Felipe Massa, who is the second driver for Ferrari came in eight lead by Webber in the
seventh position.
On Friday, Button had expressed his expectations about Red Bull making for the pole position and certainly Vettel’s recent pace must have made them stronger.
