Sebastian Vettel still looking for another victory in upcoming Korean Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel is still looking to another race victory in the 2011 Formula 1 season at the upcoming Korean Grand Prix taking place on Sunday, October 16 at the Korea International Circuit.
Vettel said that despite winning the 2011 drivers’ championship after the Japanese race, he still wants to win more in the ongoing season.
He added that he celebrated his title success in the last few days, but now he is fully focused on the upcoming Korean race weekend.
The German talked about the Korean racetrack and said that the Circuit is very demanding and quite narrow, especially at the pit lane entrance.
Talking to reporters, Vettel commented, “You actually drive almost blind along the wall and, if the car in front of you drives into the pit, you have to quickly get out of the way. The track is pretty slippery at the start and gets better by the end of practice.”
The 24-year-old driver further added that the Korean racetrack is effectively made up of three different parts.
The double world champion went on to mention, “The first reminds me of Turkey; the second stretch has long straights like Monza and the third has tight corners like a town track. It is as if they have taken corners from Monte Carlo or Istanbul. It’s important
to find a rhythm. I find corner 11, which has two apexes, the most interesting.”
The RBR driver has won 9 rounds out of 15 races in the season so far. In the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix, he ended up on the last stair of the podium after starting from the front row at the Suzuka circuit.
Vettel tried his best to finish his race on the top place in Japan, but McLaren driver Jenson Button was 2 seconds faster as compared to him and after battling it out with his rivals, the Brit won the race in the end.
Red Bull Racing driver won the 2011 championship with 324 points after the Japanese race weekend.
Let’s see how the two-time world champion, Vettel manages his race at the Korea International Circuit this weekend.
