Sebastian Vettel thinks Spanish Grand Prix will indicate the season leaders – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel feels that the Spanish grand Prix will be a good measure of who will remain in contention for the world titles for the remainder of the season.
The season so far is wide open as all Grands Prix so far in the season have had a different winner and the gap between teams is very close. Now with the in-season test at Mugello has provided further opportunity to all the teams to improve on their performances
and develop what they have lacked so far.
This will surely make the season ahead much more fierce still Vettel feels that the Spanish Grand Prix will be integral on deciding who remains in the hunt for the title wins.
“Of all the current GP tracks, Barcelona is the one that we know the most because we have done so much testing there in recent years,” he said. “That said, the knowledge that you gain at the tests doesn't always help due to the changing wind direction that
occurs there, which can sometimes give you a nasty surprise, especially into turn one.”
“But in general, a car that functions well aerodynamically in Barcelona will work everywhere - so it will be an interesting weekend. We have been working on the package for Barcelona at this week's test, but we will still have set-up work to do there on
arrival,” he added.
Vettel talked about the Spanish Grand Prix and how the Mugello test will benefit the team ahead of the race. The German has not been able to enjoy the same dominance that he did during the 2011 season.
So far, Vettel has had an up and down run in the season, but winning the latest Bahrain Grand Prix has injected new confidence in him and he must be looking to capitalise on new found rhythm.
Vettel finds fierce challenge in the season with the likes of Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button, and Fernando Alonso all very much in close range of displacing the top spot in a matter of a single victory.
