Sebastian Vettel thinks there is still a little room for improvement in RB9 – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has said that there is still a little room for improvement in RB9 despite topping the timesheets in the second free Friday practice session at the Hungaroring.
Vettel set the fastest time of 1 minute and 21.264 seconds in the FP2. He stated that they are very happy with their practice run. However, he insisted that they still need to make some important changes in their car’s setup in order to perform well in this
weekend’s race and to beat Lotus and Ferrari who also showed strong performance in the Friday practice.
“It was a good day for us,” he said. “There was quite a lot of work in the background, but it was obviously nice when you feel in control of the car and you can do what you like to play around. I think the car suits track but I think there is still a little
bit of room for improvement. We need to make sure we get everything out of the car tomorrow.”
Although, he said that he cannot make any projections about the forthcoming race, he is positively looking forward to score good points for his team and is aiming to compete well with his main rivals.
“I hope so, but I think it's too early to tell. Practice one and practice two were very good for both of us, which I think was a bit of a surprise,” he added.
Besides, he expressed that they are working very hard to keep on introducing new updates in their car so as to attain competitive results with consistency in the approaching races to defend their title in this year’s championship fight.
Currently, the youngest triple world champion is leading the drivers’ championship with 157 points. In addition, he has a strong lead over his main opponent, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. He has scored four race victories and two podium finishes in the season
so far.
It will be exciting to see how he shows up in the season ahead and whether he will be able to defend his title or not.
