Sebastian Vettel to give McLaren drivers ‘the finger’ if he wins British Grand Prix – Formula 1
The reigning world champion and current championship leader Sebastian Vettel has said that he will give the two McLaren drivers ‘the finger’ if he wins the 2011 Formula 1 British Grand Prix this coming weekend.
‘The finger’ refers to the raised index finger gesture Vettel makes after winning every race which has become his usual style of celebration.
“It was never my intention to make it a trademark. I was so happy after my first win when I was at Toro Rosso in 2008 because we were always 17th or 15th, maybe seventh on a good day. It’s funny. I hear some people like it, some people get offended. It’s
not meant to offend,” said Vettel.
Since Sebastian is currently leading the championship by 186 points which is 77 points more than Jenson Button and Mark Webber who are his closest rivals, it is believed that the championship is pretty much in the young German’s hands.
Critics claim that he is sort of becoming the next Michael Schumacher because his dominance is quite similar to the seven-time world champion’s reign.
However, Vettel claims that his attitude is not similar to Schumacher’s but added that he respects the Mercedes GP driver a lot and that he is his hero.
“There is no reason why outside the car you have to be a b******. If you always have been, then that is you. If people don’t like it, that is how it is. It is not right to fake being a nice guy. I am who I am and I’m not trying to be someone I’m not. If
I could do that I would be an actor – and I’m not,” said the reigning world champion.
Vettel has currently secured 6 race wins in 8 races with the help of 7 pole positions. This is one of the best season starts by a driver in the history of the sport and if he secures the win at the British Grand prix this weekend, it can be safely assumed
that Red Bull will comfortably win this season.
