Sebastian Vettel tops final free practice session at the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix
Red Bull Racing Team driver Sebastian Vettel has topped the timesheets for the final free practice session of the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix after two very disappointing sessions this past Friday.
Vettel and Mark Webber were unable to defeat McLaren during FP1 and FP2 after which it was believed that McLaren can easily defeat RBR at this weekend’s qualifying. With Ferrari scoring some pretty impressive lap times as well, RBR’s chances at the Hungaroring
were looking quite low.
However, it seems that the championship leaders have some tricks up their sleeves as they have improved their pace quite noticeably now and they have proved that they can still defeat Ferrari and McLaren in terms of pace.
Either way, McLaren were once again looking very sharp as well but Lewis Hamilton failed to score some impressive results as he finished in 7th place in the timesheets while his teammate Jenson Button scored the 3rd place.
Fernando Alonso on the other hand was just 3 tenths short of Vettel’s fastest time and he finished in 2nd place followed by his teammate Felipe Massa in 5th place.
Mark Webber was looking pretty good as he finished in 4th place and one has to admit that this weekend has been quite unpredictable up until now as it was believed that RBR will take the advantage at the Hungaroring but McLaren proved to be quicker
during Friday.
Now it seems that RBR are once again looking quite fast but Ferrari have been challenging both of these teams very actively as well.
Other than the top runners though, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were once again looking very competitive as they finished in 6th and 8th places respectively followed by Vitaly Petrov and Paul di Resta in 9th and 10th
places in the timesheets.
Overall, it was another disappointing session for Lotus Renault GP as Nick Heidfeld scored the 11th fastest lap time.
It seems that the qualifying session is going to be quite unpredictable once again and for now, the pole position is anyone’s for the taking.
