Sebastian Vettel tops the Q2 session of the qualifying round at the Turkish Grand Prix – Formula 1
After two days of three dramatic practice sessions, Sebastian Vettel is still the fastest driver until the Q2 session of the qualifying round.
The Q2 session takes place between the 17 fastest drivers of the qualifying round of a race after which 7 drivers get eliminated and then the final session of the qualifying round takes place. The Q3 is between the 10 fastest drivers of the sport to determine
the pole position holder for the upcoming race.
The session was quite tough for the drivers due to the competition but it seems that Mercedes GP are looking pretty good as well now since Nico Rosberg was the second fastest driver of the session surprisingly followed by Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren in 3rd
place.
Mark Webber was once again unable to score a faster time than his teammate as he finished in 4th place according to the timesheets followed by the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher in 5th place surprisingly.
Mercedes GP and Ferrari performed comparatively better than their first three runs this year. Fernando Alonso scored the fastest time of the first free practice session and it seemed that they would be much stronger in the qualifying session but that is
not the case up until now.
Fernando and his teammate Felipe Massa were the 6th and 7th fastest drivers respectively of the session.
Sebastian’s run was quite impressive as he was unable to compete in the 2nd free practice session of the Turkish Grand Prix as a result of a crash during the first practice session this past Friday. His car was completely wrecked but it seems
that Red Bull Racing did a very good job in recovering his car.
Other than Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes GP, Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld of Lotus Renault GP made it to the Q3 session and it seems that they are going to be looking forward to score some good times for their team as well.
Sebastian Vettel is still unbeaten in qualifying up until now this year as he has scored three pole positions in the first three races of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
