Sebastian Vettel tops timesheets again in FP2 of 2012 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has set the best time once again in the second free practice session of 2012 Singapore Grand Prix.
Vettel set pace in the first session on soft tyres and has topped the timesheets again in FP2 with his fastest time of 1 minute and 48.340 seconds. Moreover, he was followed Jenson Button of McLaren who came 2nd in the charts and stayed ahead
of Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
The Spaniard remained ahead of Vettel’s teammate, Mark Webber who showed improvement in his pace as compared to the first session in which he came 6th in the timesheets. Furthermore, the Australian driver was further followed by Lewis Hamilton
of McLaren who stood behind the defending champion during FP1.
The 2008 world champion was followed by Force India drivers, Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg who seemed comfortable with their upgrade package.
Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg set the 8th quickest time and remained busy in gathering the necessary data concerning the new exhaust layout of W03. The veteran German driver stayed ahead of Felipe Massa of Ferrari who was further followed by Romain
Grosjean of Lotus.
Rosberg’s compatriot, Michael Schumacher came 11th in the charts and stood ahead of Grosjean’s teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.
The Finnish driver was followed by Pastor Maldonado of Williams who remained ahead of Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso. Additionally, Ricciardo stayed ahead of Sauber pair of drivers, Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi.
Maldonado’s teammate, Bruno Senna damaged his car’s left rear suspension as he went near to the wall on turn 19 and eventually caused a red flag for 5 minutes. Afterwards, Marshals tried to push away the car but failed to do so and later a mobile crane was
used to clear the track.
The Brazilian driver came 17th in the timesheets and was followed by Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso who stood ahead of Timo Glock of Marussia.
Besides, Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham came 20th in the charts and remained ahead of Glock’s teammate, Charles Pic. Above and beyond, HRT drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan came last in the timesheets.
