Sebastian Vettel tops timesheets at Friday Practice session of 2011 Chinese Grand Prix
After dominating the Malaysian Grand Prix, the reigning world champion, Sebastian Vettel, is at it again, as he scored the fastest time of the second free practice (FP2) session of the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix.
The young German dominated the Shanghai track as he scored the fastest times of both of the free practice sessions and it seems that he is heading towards another dominating weekend ahead.
His teammate, Mark Webber, on the other hand, was able to score the second fastest time of the first free practice session but was over 8 tenths of a second slower than Sebastian back then.
However, the second session was quite different for him as he scored the 10th fastest time of the session.
McLaren was looking pretty good in the second session as Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button finished in 2nd and 3rd places respectively according to the timesheets. The two drivers were just over 2 tenths of a second slower than Sebastian’s
fastest time of the session.
They were followed by the two Mercedes GP drivers surprisingly, as Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher scored the 4th and 5th fastest times of the session, and were just a tenth short of Jenson Button’s time.
Felipe Massa scored the 6th fastest time in the Ferrari and it seems that it is going to be another disappointing weekend for the team as Fernando Alonso finished in 14th place according to the timesheets of FP2.
Other than that, the two Lotus Renault GP drivers, Nick Heidfeld, and, Vitaly Petrov, were looking pretty good as well, as they scored the 8th and 9th places respectively according to the timesheets.
The team has been outstanding up until now as both of its drivers scored back-to-back podium places with Vitaly finishing in 3rd place at the season opening Australian Grand Prix, while Heidfeld finished in 3rd at the following Malaysian
Grand Prix this past weekend.
The upcoming race is going to be quite intense for McLaren and Red Bull Racing Team, as both of them are looking forward to make some progress after applying some upgrades to their respective cars.
