Sebastian Vettel vows to deliver an ‘error free’ 2011 Formula One season
The Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel is looking forward for a very strong 2011 Formula One season. However, unlike last year, Vettel is adamant this season to fight a fierce battle right from the start so that he does not have to struggle more in the latter
part of the series.
Despite the fact that Vettel has been praised immensely last year, as he emerged as the title winner of 2010, yet the stress and pressure he faced at the last few races could have been avoided easily. With the kind of the car the team possessed, and the
form of the driver had, both the drivers’ as well as the constructors’ championship could have been sealed long time before the team actually did so.
There have been several instances last year when the driver lost some valuable points either owing to minor mistakes or some unexpected mishaps. At the season opener, the Bahrain Grand Prix, he lost the victory due to the failure of a spark plug. The trend
continued as he lost an almost certain victory by getting off the track due to a wheel problem at Australian GP. At the Belgian round he showed one of the poorest drives of year and later at the Korean GP an engine failure deprived him from another certain
victory.
However, while setting his resolution for the 2011 season, the driver proclaimed, "The championship starts with the first race, and I think many points this year we dropped. We would have been much more comfortable in the end if we got these points, but
we didn't, and that is what we had. Surely the target is to use every single opportunity in every race to put yourself in a stronger position, and ideally have a quieter end to the season.”
The Red Bull Racing undoubtedly possessed the fastest car in both 2009 as well as in 2010 Formula One seasons, and is expected to have the best car on the 2011 grid also. The team’s RB7 will be inaugurated in Valencia at the first test, and is hoped to dominate
the track once again. However, the team has refrained from making any claims as yet saying that many changes in the FIA rules including a switch to Pirelli tyres for 2011 makes the 2011 Formula One season quite unpredictable.
Vettel concluded saying, “It is going to be tough next season, the cars will change, and there will be an opportunity for others to catch up. There is a chance for us to do great again, but we will have to wait and see.”
