Sebastian Vettel wants Mark Webber to stay at Red Bull for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Sebastian Vettel wants Mark Webber to stay on at Red Bull. The German said that he would be happy to see the Aussie remain as his team-mate beyond 2012.
Webber has recently been linked to looking for other teams to sign up with after his contract ends at the end of 2012. The Aussie only signs one year contracts and that has led to media speculation that he would be looking to go with other teams.
Webber himself has denied any such speculation and admitted that he does sign one year contracts but he has been renewing them with Red Bull.
Ferrari has been a team rumoured to have been looking for a replacement for Felipe Massa and Webber’s name has popped up as a suitable replacement.
Vettel has also been linked to Ferrari recently but the German has said that he would like Webber to stay with Red Bull and said that the dynamics within the team.
“I'm not sure about his contract but I think at the moment he's doing a very good job,” Vettel said. “I can understand why people are thinking that there is a problem between Mark and myself but to be honest there is not. Yes we might not be best friends
but I have no problem with him, he has no problem with me.”
He added that working well together is something that the team is trying to focus on. According to him both drivers have the same feel of the car and silmilar liking. It is not like if one likes the car setup the other driver has to go with the opposite
setup.
Webber has been doing well in the season so far. He has been very consistent and has shown that he still has the ability to win. He won the Monaco Grand Prix which was a hard race to win. Going into Valencia Webber will be gunning for another win at another
street circuit.
If the Aussie finishes in the top five of the drivers championship he will be an easy choice for any team to pick for the next season. The question then will be whether he wants to leave Red Bull or not.
