Sebastian Vettel will give Fernando Alonso a tough time in remainder of 2012 Formula 1 season
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel is undoubtedly the strongest rival of Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and will definitely give a tough time to the Spaniard in the remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season.
The Scarlet team had one of the most struggling pre-season testing programmes this year and they could not develop a competent car as compared to the other contenders. Nonetheless, their star driver, Alonso has performed exceptionally well in the season
so far and has led the drivers’ championship for quite a long time.
On the other hand, the Milton Keynes based team also faced difficulties in designing their car in accordance with the FIA’s new rules and regulations. However, they have still been considered as the toughest rival in this year’s championship fight.
Even though, the veteran German driver has not been able to dominate in this season as compared to the last one in which he scored 11 grands prix wins. Nevertheless, he has delivered remarkable performances in the season until now and has been considered
as the most favourite driver in the title chase.
The season until now has been full of surprises and the competition has been extremely tough. Though, it is very hard to make any kind of predictions about the season ahead but it will be important to mention that Jenson Button of McLaren said that the title
fight will be fought between Vettel and Alonso.
“It's hard for anyone [to catch Alonso] except Seb at the moment,” Button was quoted by
BBC Sport. “It's between those two but there's still a lot of people with a long shot. That's what we're all going to go for.”
“It just shows one bad race makes a massive difference,” he added. “Fernando had his in Spa, Lewis had his in Spa and here, Seb had his at the last race. I had mine in the last race. When no-one has the consistency you can't close a big gap on someone. Seb
is only 29 points behind, that's a gap that's shrinking.”
It will be interesting to see who will win this year’s championship title.
