Sebastian Vettel’s performance review in 2012 Formula 1 season so far
Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel has been considered as the out-and-out favourite for the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship right from the start of the season.
At present, he is standing at third position in the drivers’ championship with 122 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Lewis Hamilton of McLaren and is behind his teammate, Mark Webber. Although, he is quite behind the current leader, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari,
nonetheless, he has still been deemed as one of the most competent drivers in this year’s title fight.
The defending champion struggled during the last pre-season test with the lack of downforce. However, he came back stronger in the season opener in which he secured second podium finish after taking a start from 6th grid slot.
Later, he had a collision with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT in the second race and could not pocket even a single point as he came 11th after setting off from 5th grid position.
Afterwards, he came 5th in the third race after starting from 11th place in the grid. Later on, he took an amazing victory in the Bahrain GP after he claimed his first pole position of the current season.
In the Spanish GP, he secured 6th place finish after beginning from 7th grid position. Furthermore, he secured 4th place finish in the Monaco GP after qualifying for 9th grid place. In addition, he secured an impressive
pole position in the Canadian GP, however, faced some issues in the race and eventually came 4th.
Even though, he secured an inspiring pole position in the European GP and completely dominated throughout the race, conversely, his alternator failed due to which he was retired and could pocket even a single point.
Then, in the British GP, he came third after beginning from 4th grid position and secured fifth place finish after starting from the second grid slot in the German GP.
Over and above, he secured fourth place finish in the Hungarian GP after taking a start from 3rd position in the grid.
Let’s see how the two-time world champion shows up after the mid-season break in the remaining nine grands prix.
