  1. He is a monster of a man. I just love to see him playing, what a guy!

A big softie at heart though, I read an article on him not long back, there was a picture of him holding his baby like a rugby ball!

A lovely little fur ball as you say!

  2. I like him although my best memory of him so far in this RWC is Roncero of Argentina absolutely smashing him in a tackle in the first game.  Chabal kind of disappeared after that which was pretty surprising... maybe he isn't as indestructible as I thought.

  3. Sasquatch.

As many others have said "overrated".  The only time I think that I was somewhat impressed by him was when Ali Williams broke his jaw or some such trying to tackle Chabal...... and even then, that wasn't really on Chabal but Ali's mistake in the way he approached tackling him.

I don't really see him as a menacing sort of figure....... rather of a homeless man his been living in the woods for years and is in desperate need of a shave........ and a haircut........ and human conversation.

Having said all that I still think he's one of the better players in the team so far in this Cup.

  4. Love Chabal. Great character for the game. He looks like a beast but seems a very nice guy. Would like to see him last longer during matches performance wise but yeah, he's cool..lol

  5. Fur ball?!?!?!?! I'd rather call him a slime ball.  He gives me the Hillie billies, just seeing him walking onto the field.  And I would advise a career as an actor or soccer player.  On the rugby field we need real men, not softies.

  6. Overrated, as already posted, he struggles to put on 80 minutes and hangs out in the backline wwaaayyyyyy to much.

But he does make you  want to grab a hold of him and cuddle him to bits.

  7. Here in France, he's got the status of the semi-God in the press and with all those whose interest in rugby will peter out when the home team is knocked out, probably by you guys. The only thing everyone was talking about was whether the rumour was true about him going to the barber's before the Fance-Ireland tie. It's like a pantomine. He is powerful, but has never been able to last more than 40 minutes, be it at club level or in the national team. I think he'll show his limits in Cardiff in two weeks' time, if he is in the starting line-up. The best thing I can say about him he's that he's got things going when it comes to popular enthusiasm for the WC.

  8. Amongst the hype and glamour of pro Rugby in these world cup times, Chabal is a symbol of the hard and aggressive, almost primal, attitude we love to associate with rugby. His look and uncompromising style of play have made him a marketable dream for rugby. Though i have to say, he does lack in technical aspects of the game and he is no way a world class lock. I still love what he has brought to the game, and will always remember the hilarious interview on Maori TV in New Zealand which gave me insight to his humour and playful nature. Mean Maori mean

  9. Massive powerhouse for France, very formidable player. Definately would not like to be in his way. Ever. France's big player for the RWC.

people judge his rugby skills on his appearance.

he did nothing against ireland. and he shouldn't be playing second row.
