Sebastien Bassong urges the French society to overcome the racism row – French football news
Tottenham Hotspur’s defender, Sebastien Bassong, has insisted that the French society has a lot of work to do in restoring their image after all the latest racism row. The French national team coach, Laurent Blanc, was also been put to question regarding
the same issue. Bassong pointed out towards the urgency of getting the acts right, or the image could get even worse.
The 24-year-old criticized the quota system, which limits the number of players in the Country’s youth teams. Bassong was quoted as an example during all the discussions. He mentioned that in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 there is no such thing as racism and everyone feels free
to move around.
The centre-back further added, "I am not going to lie and say it is not more difficult in France than it is in England to find work if you have a big beard, for example. That is just a fact. In England, it is more open and that is why people come here because
they know that they will get a chance, no matter how they dress or where they are from.”
Bassong further quoted, "When you go into a bank, you can see someone who is working with a tattoo. You cannot see that in France. French society still has to work with its approach to foreign people."
He stressed upon the need for change in the system, otherwise French football could be in hot waters. He enthused that there are many French players in the Premier League who would prefer staying in England rather than go back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 solely because of
this issue. He further admitted that people in England do not really care about anything and are broadminded. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameroon-c2865 International urged the French Football Federation to break the racism barrier in order to give young footballers a chance to exhibit
their skills in front of the world.
Tottenham are currently sixth in the League table with 56 points and with the last UEFA Champions League spot already won by Manchester City, a Europa League berth is the most the club can achieve. Spurs, with two games in hand, will next be up against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809
