Sebastien Buemi: Monaco tyre strategy ruined after red flag, looking forward to Canada – Formula 1
Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Sebastien Buemi has stated that his team was unsure about their tyre strategy after the red flag during the 2011 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix over the weekend.
Toro Rosso duo of Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari did not have any problems in the eventful Monte Carlo race before Jaime crashed in the latter part of the race.
However, Buemi has now stated that he is happy with the race prospects and is very much looking forward to the Canadian Grand Prix.
He said, “I think we can be happy with our race pace as my lap times were quite good, and to come away from the toughest race of the year with a point is pleasing, especially when you consider our qualifying did not go so well.”
He further added that he was excited about the upcoming race where he finished eighth in the 2010 season.
Talking about the race, Buemi stated, “I have to admit I was not too sure where we were in terms of strategy and tyres, with the situation made more complicated by the safety car and the red flag.”
Buemi started the race from 16th position on the grid and ended up in tenth position thereby making it another point scoring finish for his team.
His teammate Jaime however was caught up in a bit of traffic and ended his Monaco race in fences when he and Renault’s Vitaly Petrov contacted heavily on the chicane.
Buemi is leading his teammate and has scored all seven points for his team while Jaime is still searching for his point scoring finish.
Toro Rosso have shown some good pace in their 2011 car and are well on course in becoming the number one team in the midfield. However, Jaime is not playing his part in the team for which the team boss has already stated that one of them will be replaced
by Daniel Ricciardo- the team’s test driver.
Let’s see in the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix on June 12, 2011 whether Jaime gets a seat in the STR6 or not.
