Sebastien Buemi claims 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix was his best drive yet – Formula 1 news
Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi has recently claimed that the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix was his best drive yet as he was able to make his way up the grid from 23rd place to 8th place.
Buemi struggled during the qualifying session as a result of which he did not make it to the Q2 session and had to start from 23rd place on the grid. He was having a very difficult weekend but it seems that he gave it his all during the race.
“A fantastic race, one of my best. Starting right from the back row I got a super start and I passed around ten cars on the opening lap. After that, I got into a good rhythm and was able to pass more cars on the damp track. Then, as it began to dry, I felt
the set-up was not perfect and I had too much understeer,” he said.
Other than that, he added that he tried his best to psychologically prepare himself for the race despite the fact that the race weekend for him was quite disappointing. He also praised his team for doing a spectacular job as his car worked very well during
both wet and dry conditions throughout the race.
“When the rain returned, I again felt the car was working very well and I was able to run at a good pace again, which helped me get into the points,” said Buemi.
Since the 2011 Formula 1 season is going on a month-long break, the young Toro Rosso driver stated that going for a holiday after scoring such a terrific performance is going to be very satisfying for him and the team.
Other than that, the team had a pretty decent race overall as Jaime Alguersuari finished in 10th place giving the team a double point finish as a result of which, they are now even closer to Force India in the constructors’ standings. Toro Rosso
are currently in 8th place with 22 points while Force India are in 7th place with 26 points.
