Sebastien Buemi hopes to drive with Force India in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Former Toro Rosso driver, Sebastien Buemi is hoping to secure a race seat in Force India in the 2013 Formula 1 season after the news of Nico Hulkenberg’s departure.
Hulkenberg has planned to join Sauber in the next season and will replace Sergio Perez who has signed a new multi-year contract with McLaren and will drive alongside Jenson Button from the coming year onwards.
The Silverstone based team has performed remarkably well in this season and has been deemed as one of the best midfield contenders in the championship fight.
Even though, the veteran German driver has decided to leave his team, but his teammate, Paul di Resta is expecting to stay in the squad for the next year.
Meanwhile, Force India are searching for a potential replacement of Hulkenberg and are currently evaluating some options for their next year’s driver line-up.
It will be important to mention that the chief operating officer of Force India, Otmar Szafnauer has said that they are looking forward for a talented driver and will hopefully announce their decision in a couple of weeks.
“I am a believer that you need someone like that,” Szafnauer told Autosport. “Not everyone does, and it is subconscious thing. You think you are driving the best you can, but there is nothing like competition for us humans to really sharpen our
focus, attention and skills in all sort of stuff. We will announce everything in a couple of weeks. We have a pretty short list of candidates now.”
There are many drivers who have been linked with Force India for the coming year and the list mainly includes former Sauber driver, Kamui Kobayashi and test driver, Jules Bianchi. Furthermore, Buemi has also joined the list and has shown desire to drive
with the Silverstone based squad in the next season.
“I am waiting for Force India's answer,” he told Blick, “and everything doesn't seem clear at Lotus. Luckily for me, most teams have not forgotten about me. There's no more I can do.”
It will be exciting to see who drives alongside Di Resta in the coming year.
