Sebastien Buemi optimistic over his future at Toro Rosso – Formula 1 news
Sebastien Buemi says that he is sure of his future with Toro Rosso.
The FIA list for 2012 did not include the name of Sebastian Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari and both the drivers for Toro Rosso are unsure of their future with the team.
Buemi did not have such a good season in 2011. He was only able to score 15 points in the season and his best position was 8th in Australia, the first Grand Prix of 2011 and then again in Hungary. On the other hand, his teammate Alguersuari was able to score
26 points and had a best finish of 7th in the season. The performance could improve with a more competitive car, and that is what Toro Rosso is looking to do for the 2012 season. Will the drivers remain the same for the next season is still uncertain.
Buemi though has said that he is confident of his future prospects with Toro Rosso.
“I should have news in the next two weeks,” Buemi said. “But I'm very confident. I already have events organised for next year, although confirmation of my place is not there yet. I am continuing to work normally, as I have always done, to prepare for the
2012 season.”
“That (the uncertainty) is Formula One and that's what we have to live with - once you're there, you have to be prepared to withstand the pressure,” he added.
Buemi said that life in Formula 1 is like this, there is a lot of uncertainty involved and you just have to live with that. All a driver can do is perform to his potential and make sure he does not let the pressure get to him too much.
He expressed his contentment being a part of Red Bull, and said that they have allowed him to take change and fight from the front and that means he is going to have better opportunities with the team in the future.
It will be interesting to see how Toro Rosso makes its picks for 2012, it is being speculated that Sebastian Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari will retain their positions in the team, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
