The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international has revealed that the cash-laden club from Paris tried to sign him when he ended his affiliation with Fiorentina in the summer of 2011
According to the 32-year-old, the Parisiens were keen to secure his signature but he decided to stay in Serie A, after Genoa offered him a chance to continue his career in Italy.
While talking to reporters, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan goalkeeper stated that the opportunity to play in France and with a club like PSG was indeed tempting, but he is well settled in Italy.
“Paris SG came after me last year when I left Florence, but I made the right choice in coming to Genoa. I hope to remain in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 for as long as possible,” the France international told Sky Sport Italia in an interview.
When asked about his decision to snub the Ligue 1 outfit, the shot-stopper said that he still feels that he made the right decision by staying in Serie A, and he has no regrets at all regarding that.
The 32-year-old, who has 2 international caps to his name, endured a less than convincing campaign with Genoa last season, and the Frenchman came under a lot of criticism from the press.
However, Sebastien Frey is not much worried about his critics. The France international added that he is satisfied with his performance and he did pretty well last season.
The 32-year-old added that he is ready for the 2012/2013 campaign, and his main aim this season is to silence his critics.
“I was happy with what I did last season. As for my critics, I’ll be happy to demonstrate to them what I am still capable of.”
Frey said that he wasn’t sure about moving to Paris that’s why he opted to sign for Genoa instead.
“We made a mistake in setting ourselves too high a target. We need to keep our feet on the ground, with survival our first objective.”
After admitting defeat in their pursuit of Frey, Paris Saint-Germain opted for Palermo custodian http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salvatore-Sirigu-c32282, who has now established himself as the first-choice shot-stopper at Parc des Prices.
