Goalkeeper, Sebastien Frey, reveals his reasons for choosing Genoa and looking to stay at the club till he retires.
The shot-stopper joined the Marassi club for an undisclosed fee from Fiorentina recently. The former Parma man is really happy to be at the club and wants to remain here for the rest of his career. The Viola boss, Siniša Mihajlović, told the 31-year-old
to look for a new club after the end of the 2010/11 season. The manager did not include him in his plans for the upcoming season and he is really disappointed with the treatment.
However, the 31-year-old is looking to put his past behind him and is eagerly waiting for a new start. The Frenchman is delighted with the respect Genoa have given him and he is looking to repay their faith by giving his best next season.
The former French international revealed that President, Enrico Preziosi’s inspirational words forced him to join the club. He added that he is really excited to play for a club with rich history and likes the way they treat their players.
Talking to the reporters Frey said, “There are many reasons that brought me to choose Genoa. President Enrico Preziosi made it clear he wanted me here and I arrive at a club with an important squad that specialises in developing young talent as well as relaunching
the careers of more experienced players.”

Frey is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the country and has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe. German giants, Bayern Munich, were also interested in signing the former French international but the opportunity of playing
as number one with Genoa tempted him to join the Marassi outfit.
