Goalkeeper, Sebastien Frey wants to end his playing career at Genoa and has blasted Fiorentina bosses for forcing him out of the club.
Frey signed a five year contract with the Rossoblu recently and has expressed his delight on joining the club. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan shot-stopper is hoping that it will be the final club of his playing career and is looking forward
to the upcoming campaign.
The 31-year-old has thanked his Fiorentina team-mates and fans for supporting him throughout the five years spent at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. However, the shot-stopper has blasted the club bosses for forcing him out for no apparent
reason.
Talking to the reporters Frey said, “I signed a five-year contract, so it’s very likely it will be my final professional club. I would be proud to end my career at Genoa. I wish to salute and thank the people of Florence and the
Viola fans, who shared important years of my career. I also embrace with affection my former teammates.”
“However, I hope never again to read football terms like ‘caring about the jersey’ and ‘this player is a bandiera.’ My story proved these concepts are more often than not used purely to create a narrative.”
The Marassi club were on a look for a new goalkeeper, as their last season’s number one, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eduardo-c12034, was sent back to Benfica after a less than impressive 2010/11 campaign. Genoa President, Enrico Preziosi, was initially interested
in bringing Inter Milan goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emiliano-Viviano-c12483, but he picked up a serious knee injury during a pre-season and is ruled out for six months.
Genoa were also interested in signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salvatore-Sirigu-c32282 but he opted to sign for French side, Paris Saint Germain. Frey has thanked the Genoa President for the trust he showed in him and is looking forward to repay it in the upcoming
campaign.
The former French international had a troublesome 2010/11 campaign and managed to make only 11 appearances after recovering from a horrific knee injury picked up in the early part of the season.
