In Corpus Christi, Texas, another baby dies of a Herapin OD. Why would it even be necessary to give a baby a blood thinner? Does anyone know/

  1. Generally heparin is given to maintain the patency of indwelling catheters in neonates ... there are no other indications for it in the neonate world ....

    This should never happen ... this is a high alert drug that should require another nurse to verify the strength and dose
