Question:

Second IRS Economic Stimulus Notice but I'm confused?

I just received the second notice from the IRS stating that I will receive $300 by June 20th. I thought I owed back taxes from 2004 and that they would automatically apply the refund. But if I did owe, why would they send me this notice? Should I expect the payment?

  1. No, you will not get it, unless there is some left over after they offset your back taxes.

  2. The rebate letter did not take any owed taxes into consideration.

If you owe $300 or more for 2004, you won't get a check.  If you owe less, you will get the difference.

  3. my fiancee owed money too and he still got his. He just still needs to pay it back even though it is a small amount.

  4. If you owe money to the IRS, it is stated in the paperwork they sent you ANY  refunds you will get will be going towards the the amount you must pay back, and the sooner you pay this back the less it will cost in fines, penalty's, and interest.

The answer is NO you will get nothing.

  5. Even you you owe IRS sends a letter letting you know how much you qualify for.  You will not receive the Stimulus if you owe it will be offset.

  6. Don't count on the payment.  This letter was just to say the amount you are eligible for.  If it is taken for back taxes, you'll get another letter saying where it went.
