I want to have the special wedding for the 4 of us.....want the family's involved but don't want them to feel like they are obligated to come....they already did the "BIG" weddings with us....I don't want to overwhelm them.....just celebrate our love and new life and new family together.....SO if there are any cool second wedding ideas out there please please help!!!! 1. My guy has been married several times, and my previous marriage was annulled after only a few weeks (courthouse, so there was no 'wedding').  My suggestion is to have a small wedding at a special place.  We're now leaning towards a nice restaurant that actually has a lovely wedding room - very lush with a large fireplace.

  2. Have a garden wedding in one of the city or state parks in your area or even on the grounds of the art museum or a public garden with a gazebo for the "altar".

Chairs can be rented easily and you can have a banquet table for the cake cutting and others for a casual catered buffet menu. All linens etc. can be rented, delivered, and removed with no fuss. You can rent beautiful standing candelabras and have floral arrangements to each side that create the altar setting for the vows.

If the venue allows it, you could even hire a dj with a portable dance floor for dancing. I would have my son and daughter walk me down the aisle and "give me away" unless you want her to be the flower girl and him to be the ring bearer.

Congratulations. My husband I did this and it was tons of fun!!

  3. How about a cruise wedding? Take the kids along and pick Carnival or RCCL with great kids programs for that age. Disney Cruise line is much more expensive but also a great option. This way you can make it a vacation and build a week of memories.

These cruises that I mentioned have great programs where you can have a ton of time just for you and the new hubby and time as a family.

  4. How about a small backyard wedding at your home? What better place to celebrate your love and family than at your home?

  5. I would concentrate on the ceremony, and the vows, and getting the kids inolved in as many ways as you could. If they are willing, have them say something, and each have an age appropriate task to do. They could help plan the party after, choose the menu, help decorate. The best way to involve kids is to give them choices. Things like should we decorate in pink or blue[that way, your venue will not end up in your least favorite colors], or shouId we have fried chicken or BBQ. I   would involve the rest of the family as much as they would like to be.

I would have a big nice meal, it does not have to be expensive, you could have a picknick, or a buffet. The venue could be in church, or any other venue you like, even at home, if you have a big shady yard.

And I would make a request that there not be presents. Yes, some will give you something anyway, that is ok. Otherwise, people will think you are just having this to cash in.

I also think that a destination wedding take the kids with you, would be grand. A cruise, a trip to Disneyworld, something outdoorsy, would be perfect. Make arrangements in advance, for a ceremony, both venues have been on tv recently with weddings that they can provide. Yes, you can have a ceremony on a ship, and Disney advertizes their wedding ideas. That way, you can cement the immediate family bond, the kids will never forget it, and if you want to take cetain family members with you, like the grands, or turn it into a family vacation, that is great too. Beware though, thee will always be somebody that can't afford to go, or just can't go, and there could be hard feeling there. Choose the vacation for entire family carefully.

  6. The family unity candle ceremony is a nice way to involve the kids in the wedding.

  7. get married at an art gallery, someones' backyard, a park, the beach.  say "no gifts" and have a it catered or make it a potluck.

  8. Congratulations! You can have a simple ceremony at a restaurant, especially if they have an outdoor area. A weekend cruise to Mexico is nice, or rent a boat for the day and get married there. You didn't say where you live, but I live in SoCal and locations for simple weddings are endless. The two of you sound so sensible; I've seen more than a few second weddings that were just like the first!
