Second leg of the Philippine Badminton Ranking System kicks-off today – Badminton News
The second leg of the Philippine Badminton Ranking System has kicked-off at the Po Hang Badminton Centre in Bacolod City, Philippine, on May 31.
The event will conclude on June 5, with the aim to identify the best talent in the country.
All top shuttlers from all over the country are participating in this second leg of the event, to attain higher national rankings. The first leg of this tournament took place in Manila, from March 27 to April 3.
The first part of this four-leg ranking system event received a huge response from the shuttlers who participated in the tournament from the whole country. A similar kind of response is expected by the officials in this event as well.
The tournament will entertain the participation of the Under-15 and Under-19 events for all categories including the Boy’s Singles, Girl’s Singles, Boy’s Doubles, Girl’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
The third leg of this ranking system event will kick-off at Davao, from July 31 to August 6. The fourth and final leg will take place in Manila, from October 22-29, by the name of the VP Grand Prix Badminton Open Championships.
The Philippine Badminton Association (PBA), the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee are the major supporting organisations of this ranking system tournament, which will help to promote the level of badminton in Philippines.
Vice president of PBA, Jejomar Binay said, “Aside from improving our stamina, badminton inculcates in us discipline, focus, perseverance, and respect for others.”
The Philippine Badminton Ranking System has become the first major professional event, which will help officials in identifying talented young shuttlers, who will be provided with world-class training facilities to compete at the international level.
This is the first attempt by the PBA to work in the right direction in selecting young players, who have the talent and passion to lead their country at the highest level of the game. By participating in these ranking events, contestants from all over the
country will earn points which will help them in reaching the top of the rankings, in their respective categories.
