Second life and bad internet connection?

Well yea, when I'm on second life, for those who don't know it's a virtually online game, sometimes my internet tends to act a little weird. For example, I'll be on the game for like 10 minutes, everything is fine, then out of no where my avatar doesn't move and i can tell that somethings wrong. The little computer in the corner of the taskbar blinks blue and black. When I'm playing and it works its just solid blue. Even when it blinks though i can still go to internet browser and it works perfectly fine, just the game. I'm with comcast and they gave me a wireless netgear. I've also tried to connect the modem to my computer, the game still gets a bad connection. I also have to keep restarting the modem too. Maybe its the game?Any suggestions with this problem?

  1. Comcast is currently in hot water with the FCC because they do what they call "load balancing" by interfering with certain types of traffic that they believe is using an "unfair" amount of their (!?) bandwidth. Usually, people using file-sharing systems are the ones interfered with, but the "game" traffic may also be getting blocked. If the internet still works (in your browser) but the game is the only thing having problems, my guess is that this is what is happening. I wouldn't use Comcast if I had ANY other choice.

  2. Second Life Scares me o.o

  3. You may need to upgrade to the most current firmware version for your Netgear router.  This is available at Netgear's website.  You may also want to upgrade the wireless adapter driver on your computer.
