Second pregnancy, baby dropped on 8/27?

I am 34 weeks & 4 days. I have been having some pretty good pain in my vaginal/cervical area d/t him dropping. I know this is not an exact science but I thought babies didn't generally drop during a second pregnancy.

Dude, does this mean that my little boy is coming early? I have been measuring a week ahead anyway but dang it feels like he is going to fall out!

  1. I thought 34 weeks was still a little early maybe it is time to call the DR, I know your tired and it is nearing the finish line but make sure the baby is Healthy before waiting too long you can never go back in time only forward.

    Congratulations and good luck.

  2. I didn't drop for either of my kids up until the day i gave birth so I think it just depends on the women!! Who knows, you might be starting contractions soon, or you could be really uncomfortable for the remainder.

  3. I am 37 weeks prego with my second as well, and my baby girl dropped at about 32 weeks.  I was glad b/c I could finally breathe :)  My doc said everything is fine.  I am measuring ahead by about 10 days, but nothing to worry about.  Your little guy is just making room for himself.  Dropping doesn't mean coming.

If you are worried, call your doc, that's what they are there for.

Blessings and much luck to you and yours.

  4. Like you, I have also heard that the baby will not drop during a 2nd pregnancy until labor starts. I asked my doctor about it and she said that although that is usually the case, occasionally a woman's baby will drop earlier than that during a second pregnancy.

It may mean that he's coming early, or maybe not. It's so hard to know. Ask your doctor to check you at your next appointment and see how low his head is.

  5. Maybe you should ask the OB if this is normal..But I think no matter what # pregnancy you have the baby has to drop in order to prepare for his or her entrance
