Second round of Deloitte Ladies Open in progress, Holly Aitchison leads after first round
Overnight leader Holly Aitchison seems to be holding strong to her first round lead of five-under for the moment, though she hasn’t tee-ed off for the second round of the Deloitte Ladies Open as yet.
Australian Lynnette Brooky carded second round of four-under, 68 till her 17th hole and has moved into contention for the top slot. Opening from back nine, Brooky carded three birdies but stumbled on an unfortunate double bogey at par-3, 16th.
She quickly recovered on the last hole to card another birdie before making the turn. She posted another birdie in the front nine to be four-under for the moment.
Frenchwoman Anne-Lise Caudal has done well for herself on the second day and is currently two-under with last hole still to go. Caudal, had a rather quiet round on her opening back nine with just one birdie coming of it. She made the turn to fell for a bogey
at par-4, 1st but quickly regained momentum to card three birdies.
Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall, winner of last week’s Allianz Ladies Slovak Open was three-under till the completion of 16 holes and it seems less likely that she would be breaking into the lead for the day owning mostly to her first round of 75. Hedwall has
had a successful season so far when she won her maiden LET event in Slovakia and went over to win the hybrid PowerPlay Golf tournament at Celtic Manor.
Juliet Greciet, another Frenchwoman has also completed her 18 holes with second round score of three-under, 69 but had to settle for an aggregate of one-over due to her disappointing first round of 76.
Many of the top ranking players including Christel Boeljon, Melissa Reid, Luna, and Virginie Lagoutte-Clement have yet to start their respective rounds. Defending champion Florentyna Parker opened her front nine with a birdie. She carded a lopsided round
of 75 in the opening round at the scenic Golfclub Broekpolder in Rotterdam where she won her maiden title last year.
Anja Monke and Rachel Jennings both have opened their front nine with birdies and are in top form to gain the lead in second round. The projected cut will be placed at 150 plus ties for the €250,000 event with €37,500 as the winner’s share.
