Second round of Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters in progress on the Asian Tour
Thailand’s Panuphol Pittayarat has surged to the top with his staggering second round of eight-under, 75, without dropping a single shot throughout the day at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters on Thursday, July 21.
Sujjan Singh of India, playing on the tour as a rookie, grabbed an early second round lead. Singh carded a round of six-under, 66 to edge past the rest of the field, but is still sharing the sixth spot with Australia’s Scott Barr and Chang Tse-peng of Chinese
Taipei and five other players at the scenic Kota Permai Golf and Country Club, Malaysia.
“It was a good run for me and I won’t complain even though I bogeyed the last hole. You can’t complain if you have six birdies in eight holes. I haven’t touched a golf club for about three weeks. I went for a honeymoon with my wife in Koh Samui (after the
Queen’s Cup) for two weeks and had a viral fever for a week,” said Singh, who is an accomplished squash player and has been a former state Squash champion.
Australia's Scott Bar is eager to win on the Asian Tour and pulled in an amazing performance on the second day with seven birdies, an eagle and three bogeys through the halfway mark of the event.
“A few weeks ago, I went cross-handed and had some results but this week, it didn’t feel good and I went back to the normal grip. I’m slowly starting to settle but it always goes back in a full circle,” said Barr, who missed the cut in the US Open this year
and has been in the Top 60 in the Order Of Merit on the Asian Tour.
Chang of Chinese Taipei also pulled in a stunning performance on the second day with five birdies, an eagle at par-five, 1st and dropped just one shot en route to six-under, 66. No fewer than four players are tied for the second spot including
Joonas Granberg, Namchok Tantipokhakul, Panuwat Muenlek, and Australian Marcus Both, with seven-under each.
Siddikur of Bangladesh was also seen working his way up the leaderboard through the halfway mark of the event with his aggregate of 138. He was able to post a second round of two-under, 70 against his first round score of 68. He is tied for the sixth spot
with no less than eight players and will be hoping to finish off the event on a better note.
