Secret Witness bags a victory for trainer Ronald Harris in the William Birch & Sons Construction Stakes
The Ronald Harris trained Secret Witness landed a big victory for owner Paul Moulton at York in the William Birch & Sons Construction Stakes on 16th May, 2012.
Mounted by rider, James Doyle, the six-year-old gelding delivered a magnificent race despite his slim odds of 14 to 1.

He crossed the wire first by a narrow margin of half-length over the Derek Shaw trained, Baby Strange.
The third place was secured by Fast Shot, who finished 1 ¼ lengths after Baby Strange, whereas the race favourite, York Glory, who is under the training of Kevin Ryan completed the order of finish.
The winning rider commented on his race strategy after the race as he stated to the press that:

"The plan was to ride a patient enough race and creep into it and it worked out well. He travelled brilliantly and I've almost ended up getting there too soon as the ones in front of me just stopped. I just had to edge out as I didn't want to disappoint
him and he's done it nicely. He idled a bit close to the line."
Ronald Harris, the winning trainer stated that the chestnut gelding loved the ground, which is one of the reasons that he picked up the pace. The son of Pivotal, out of mare It´s A Secret, will compete again on 17th May, 2012.
The trainer sees him fit to run for two days in a row, as he is in good shape and did the same at Doncaster the previous season.
Whelped on 12th April, 2006, the gelding started his racing career on 1st May, 2009, and seems to have a bright future ahead of him.
The Declan Carroll trained, Lastchancelucas, also delivered a terrific race for owner C. H Stephenson and Partners, as he downed a perfect victory in the Ripleycollection.com E B F Novice Stakes.
The two-year-old bay gelding worked well with his rider, Jason Hart. The duo picked up speed and finished half-length ahead of the Michael Easterby trained, Hoofalong.
The trainer stated that the two-year-old might has a number of options for future races. He might compete at Epsom, but he could also race in the National Stakes at Sandown.
