Secret Witness to pair up York victories by striking the Betfred Mobile Sports Stakes (Handicap) at York
The Class 2 Betfred Mobile Sports Stakes (Handicap) will be hosted by York over five furlongs on Thursday, 17th May. Competing in the race is a line-up of sixteen runners who will invade the track for the £12,938 prize money.
Secret Witness, Pivotal’s six-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, It’s A Secret, is the only entry among all the candidates who has raced and won at York, that too through the most recent outing.
The six-year-old has been placed third in the seasonal debut while won the very next opportunity that found its way to him.
His 2012 campaign started off with the Exclusive William Buick Blog On Attheraces.Com Handicap (Division I) on 11th May at Ascot over six furlongs.
The race was won by the 2/1 favourite, Thunderball, who led the field of six by 1 ¼ lengths. Gouray Girl finished the race the closest to the winner.
Secret Witness settled third with James Doyle onboard.
His seasonal debut was not highly impressive and neither did it blow off the expectations of the trainer, Ronald Harris.
The William Birch & Sons Construction Stakes (Handicap) on 16th May at York over six furlongs saw Secret Witness winning.
With James Doyle onboard, the six-year-old had to snatch away the win from the clutches of the runner up of the race, Baby Strange, who was reeling right in at just half length’s distance.
Settling third was Fast Shot while the 9/2 favourite of the race, York Glory, was the last contestant to leave the field of nineteen.
Today is the straight second time that Secret Witness will race at York through the third outing of the new season.
The line-up is the mixture of those who have already started their 2012 campaign along with those who are taking their new season’s chances today.
Recently successful in the seasonal debut is Magical Macey, Rossini’s five-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Spring’s Glory. He won the Pat And Graham Roberts Ruby Wedding Handicap on 18th April at Beverley over five furlongs.
Bagging the final race of the previous season and then claiming the seasonal debut can be reasons enough that he tries for a hat trick and endanger Secret Witness’ chances for the race today.
