Secret life of bees. which movie has the same theme???

so i have to finish my summer homework. the assignment is to chose a book and movie from a list, and then write an essay comparing the common theme.

i read the secret life of bees by sue monk kidd

but the movies on the list are

1.whale rider

2.dead poets society

3.the great debaters

4. stand and deliver

if you read the book please help me out im stuck!

okay...i read the book, but ive never seen the movies : /

but Ill tell you the theme is to have faith in yourself and that you are capable of doing what you want. so whichever of those movies kinda fits that theme.

Have you watched the movies?  If you have, you should be able to find a common theme in each of them.

1.  Whale Rider -- grandparent/parent-child conflict; coming-of-age

2.  Dead Poets Society -- parent-child conflict and the child turning to someone else as a parental figure; coming-of-age

3. The Great Debaters -- racism; parent-child conflict and the child turning to someone else as a parental figure; coming-of-age
