Secret weapon cold air intake

i have purchased a car that has a secret weapon intake : 307-158 cold air intake for a 2001 chevy malibu. but it has not been cleaned in 3 years. i know how to disconnect the filter. i just need to know the proper way to lean it so i don't get any engine damage.

depends what kind of filter it is. they have washable and reusable ones..but if your not sure just buy a new one at auto zone and put it on.

You replace the filter element.

justin it is washed with simple dish soap and water let dry totally and then spray a light mist of air cleaner oil (kandN) on the outside. re-install and drive!

You didn't mention the brand, but most CAI's have that long, conical exposed filter. K&N Filters makes a cleaner for these, and there available at Advance Auto Parts and other auto parts stores.
