Sometimes the instruction is short, so i guess it is best to always stand until he / she asks you to sit.. right? I am starting on a new job tomorrow, and don't want to make any mistakes.

Also when ur boss is out of town, do you feel the need to make contact with him once a day or not necessary?

  1. If your boss tells you to sit, of course you should sit, but if he doesn't tell you to sit then I'd stand unless the instruction are starting to take awhile then I'd sit. The longer you work for you new boss you know when something will start to know what to do.

When my boss is gone I don't contact him unless there is something I think he'd want to know about. It's his responsibility to check in with me for messages and what-not.

As a side note, whenever you are called in to your bosses office make sure to take in not paper and a pen. Even if you don't think you'll need it, but that way you'll be prepared and won't have to excuse yourself to get them or have to ask to borrow his.

  2. It depends on your boss and the relationship you have with him or her.

  3. If your back and legs are hurting, simply ask "may I sit down?"

  4. it really depends on your relationship with your boss! I have a relaxed relationship with my boss so I sit down and talk to him. My boss also travels a lot and I wait until he contacts me. I always just send him an email if I need to get a hold of him!
