Section 8 housing?

I'm 19 my husbands 19 and we have a brand new baby. How do I go about applying for section 8 if there are not exepting applications!

You can't.

It's time for both of you to act like adults and realize that the government and WORKING taxpayers doesn't have to foot the bill for your choice to get married and have a child before you had a financial clue of how you were going to make it.

Welcome to adulthood.

Tell your husband to work two jobs or one of you can work days and the other work nights so you can save on daycare.

It's the only way...but don't expect a handout your whole life.

if they are not accepting applications then you really cant apply, im guessing the waiting list is long and there is no point to accept more applications when there are no openings.

If your city's housing authority is not taking applications, you can try another city's h.a.  However, if you do apply at another location, you may still have to wait in line as that city's denizens have preference.

You can also try finding public housing.  Public housing usually consists of apartments that base your rent on your income.  The leasing agent can approve you on-site for low rent apartments.

If they are not accepting applications, that means that the waiting list is quite long with current applicants.  Sec 8 funds are not unlimited.  There is only a given amount provided to each county each year.  When that amount is exhausted the applicants end up waiting until either additional funding is granted or others leave the program or both.

If they are not even taking applicants, you can be sure that you will have a several year wait before you will be granted Sec 8 assistance.
