How do you secure your home from burglars when you go on vacation?

I'm just hoping to hear some tips that I did not already think about. Thanks.

  1. Timers,dead bolt double keyed locks,burglar bars,a house sitter,notify neighbors,burglar alarm.

  2. The best way is to have a friend or relative stay in your home while you are gone.

If that is not an option there are a few things to do.

    1.  Put your outdoor lights on a timer.  Get a timer that you can set weekly so the lights go on and off at different times each night.

    2.  Ask a neighbough to pick up your mail and your papers.  Also ask them to park in your driveway overnight one or two nights while you are gone.

    3.  If possible, have someone go in and open your drapes during the day and close them at night.

Anything you can think of to make your home look lived in.

    Have a nice trip.

  3. ~~Tak said it all, the only other suggestion is to tell a close neighbor you'll be gone and have them keep a close eye on your home. Our next door neighbors travel all the time, so we keep papers picked up, park a car in their driveway, and just watch for anyone around.~~
