I am looking for some books on securities research. basically the methods used by the people on tv and the other analysts to evaluate a security and its direction or price.

I suggest you read "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" by Burton Malkiel.  This book is a key to understanding investing.  It also sheds light on the fact as to why "chart reading" is bunk.  By reading it, you could have also seen the bubbles we have experienced far in advance- I was talking about both the Real Estate and Technology bubbles far in advance of their bursting (I didnt realize the credit crunch piece was going to be as devastating as it is, though).

Don't waste your time, it won't give you any edge in trading/investing.
