Security camera image going dark?

Until recently the video image from my security camera has been good even after sunset. now the screen is black when the sun goes down. even during the daytime the image is darker than usual. i am wondering if this is a camera problem or a wiring problem. The system was professionally installed but is beyond the warranty.

  1. You're experiencing burn out. If the camera is in constant sunlight it will eventually develop. If you look closely all company cameras have either lens shades or tinted bubbles over them. I'm surprised that installer didn't take the time to inform your of this. Most home security cameras are mounted under the eaves of a house for just that reason.

  2. Clean the lens

  3. How old is the camera? If you want, get a security cam with an LED Illuminator, night vision FTW

  4. you will have to test the camera / wiring .. to eliminate what the problem is.. if the camera works fine, then maybe the wiring is the issue..

or try a different monitor also, maybe there is a problem with that.

birds nesting etc can cause a problem...

or perhaps the lens etc on the camera itself just needs a clean.

we used to see spiders going across the ones at work.hehe
