My sister and I rented a property owned by my father. He has not lived there for 2 years and there was a short term tenant inbetween. There was some tension so my father hired a management company. We received the tenants security deposit and held it in a escrow account.The management company is trying to charge the tenant for damage that was there prior to them moving in. We explained that all this was there prior but they dont want to listen.We feel the whole security deposit should be returned to the tenant. Since we have it in an escrow account, what can my father or the management company due if we return the security deposit to the tenant.
