I just got a new laptop and can't connect to my wireless network because I can't remember the security key/pass phrase thing. Is there any way to find this again? My router is a Linksys wireless-g broadband router. Thanks

  1. log in to the router from a wired connection.

    http://192.168.1.1

password is  password no user name needed

    look at the wireless settings

  2. Yes, just plug your laptop to the router with a cable. Go to your browser, and type 192.168.1.1

If that doesn't work, try 192.168.0.1

If the router asks for a username or password, try the following:

    username:admin

    password:admin

    username:admin

    password(blank)

    username:admin

    password:password

    username:administrator

    password:admin

All linksys routers have one of these set as a default, unless you changed it.(this is not your key, the key is used only for wireless)

Then go to the security tab, and change or retrieve your key.

  3. Providing the actual model number of your Linksys router will get you a more acurate answer so you can correct your problem quicker.

  4. Log into your router, the default username/password for linksys is admin/admin

Then just check Wireless security encryption
