Security officers praise good behaviour of fans at EuroVolley 2011 – Volleyball news
The exciting volleyball Eurovolley 2011 campaign is underway in the Czech Republic and Austria. The tournament was officially opened this past Saturday, September 10, and is going pretty strong. The organizers have recently highlighted the security measures taken during the tournament and the success of the staff and participants and creating a safe environment.
There have been several thrilling encounters and interesting fights on centre court and the turn-out of fans was good as the host Czech Republic set up excellent arrangement for matches and to accommodate spectators. The city of Karlovy Vary is enjoying the inflow of fans and volleyball lovers from every nook and cranny of Europe have headed toward the Czech city to witness the live action of their favourite teams.
It was a big responsibility on the host countries to take care of the local and international fans during the tournament. The Czech Volleyball Federation assigned 30 security officers who have been working at the venue from 1pm to 9pm on a daily basis. The security officers, dressed in yellow vests, can easily be spotted in various parts of the sports arena during matches. They assist the spectators in finding their seats and also make necessary checking for security purpose at the gate.
The operational manager of the security agency, Mr. Vladimir Hudec, has been in the business for about 15 years and he knows the nitty-gritty of event management. He shared his thoughts about the on-going European Championship and its security arrangements. He stated that it is first time they have been assigned to look after the volleyball event. In past they were involved in the national ice hockey league and Basketball World Championships in Czech Republic and had a total different experience.
Speaking of the difference of fans’ behavior in various sports, he said: “Of course ice hockey fans are more energetic and spontaneous. They form groups and they are usually local people. Volleyball fans understand the game very well, as their professional and educational background is slightly different. They are friendly and behave well. I feel lucky we do not have any soccer rowdies to supervise”.
The EuroVolley has now entered the quarter-final stage and it is expected that the rest of the event will also have a smooth run.
