Question:

See through rock?

I have a small rock about 1.5 inches wide. It is clearly cut because it is shaped like a triangle and the sides are very smooth and the corners are round. It is a whitish-clearish rock. At first glance, it looks like a regular rock (kind of like quartz) but if you hold it up to something close, you can see through the rock. For example, if I put my finger behind it, I can see my finger. But if I just hold it up in front of me, I can't see anything; it's just a plan rock. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT TYPE OF ROCK THIS IS? Please help! Thank you very much!

  1. Try taking it to a jewellers they may well be able to help

  2. I have a rock commonly called a "TV rock" that is from California.  If it is polished the right way, you can see things through it on the surface of the rock.  If you look at it another way, you can't see the item at all. I have been trying to google it - I'll keep looking.

  3. Not mica is it?

  4. Where did you get the rock? Was it expensive? It could be a diamond that isn't polished.
