I just found out that the Sabres are NOT going to sign Kalinin to a new contract! Wooooooooooooooohhhhooooooooooo!!!!

For my question- Where do players go if they don't sign a contract with an NHL team(what country/league do they tend to go play in)?

  1. They can play for their AHL teams, and start back up.

Or either, they go to foreign countries.  Usually, the player is foreign, so they go back to the country they played in, and play in the professional leagues there.

Like Kapenen is retiring, but will be going back to his home country to play hockey, I believe it is the Netherlands?

    Hope this helped.

  2. I don't know if Kalinin was the guy to sacrifice, but there was the potential for a more fatal move I suppose.

I think they go to their mom's house because mom fixes everything. Then they go to the bar. Then they go to Europe or to the AHL until someone comes knocking.

  3. Most European players tend to go home.  Their NHL experience makes them a gate attraction.

Ruff and Kalinin were never really on the same page.  He never really bought into the Ruff system.  He's big, he'll find interest from other teams.

  4. they go home and pray their phone rings.

  5. Jay you better hope the Sabres sign Miller or else your team is going downhill.LOL

They go home to cry on there bedspread.

  6. Good, there's one step in the right direction of making the defense less soft

The player is considered a free agent and may go whereever they want.

Arturs Irbe was still playing in Europe as of last season as far as I know....a lot of players go there. Kalinin will probably sign with another NHL team though.

Hey (King), our team has already gone downhill, where have you been? Signing Enroth and Persson over the last few days is huge.
