Seedsman to prove better than his mark in Lingfield Christmas Party Nights Handicap Hurdle
Tuesday’s Lingfield Christmas Party Nights Handicap Hurdle is surely a tricky contest, and a strong case can be made for many of the participants. But it could be worth chancing Seedsman, who has plenty of potential and can perform better than expectations
today.
The Charles Egerton-trained is slightly inexperienced, and has not tasted success so far this season. Yet, a chance can be taken on him. The son of Sulamani made his debut on a winning note last May, when grabbing a close triumph at Aintree.
In the Drink, Eat, Celebrate At The Noble House Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race, the debutant ran superbly to take a narrow victory over Forever My Friend. After making a splendid start to his career, the Chieveley Manor Stud-bred lost his momentum,
and faced three straight losses. But none of his defeats was disgraceful.
Owned by Christopher Spence & Partners, the 5-year-old went on vacations after seizing the fourth place in a tough competition at Plumpton in January. He is returning to action with a lot of determination and energy. There is no doubt over his skills, and
he is likely to prove way better than his mark.
On Lingfield’s heavy two miles, a line-up of 10 rivals is waiting for him. The class 4 meeting is scheduled to begin at 14:30 GMT. The contest will be for a handy prize of £2,669.
Dormouse handles testing surface very well, and therefore deserves respect. The Anabel K. Murphy-trained is coming into this clash after two back-to-back triumphs. The 7-year-old has desire for more, and would love to complete the hat-trick today. But the
task is no easy. He surely needs to raise his game to avoid any upset.
Another dangerous fellow is Manshoor, who has won over this distance here in the past. His recent form is a concern though. Since coming back from a long break, Lucy Wadham’s trainee has not made any significant move.
No doubt, Seedsman is the only one who can stop Dormouse from going for the hat-trick. If he fails to pose any threat, it will be a straightforward win for Anabel K. Murphy’s gelding.
