Question:

Seeing a fertility doctor on Thursday, and I'm not sure what to expect??

My regular obgyn sent me for several tests in July, and it turns out I have a subseptus uterus (septum, almost heart shaped), although mild. She said that I might have to have surgery, or they will put me on fertility medication (progesterone, clomid) The problem is I don't have AF regularily (maybe 2 times a year, IF THAT), which isn't caused by the septum uterus and I don't have PCOS. So if I'm not ovulating, what good would the surgery do? Also, what should I expect when I go, do you think they'll want to do surgery right away? I've already had the pelvic ultrasound, and an HSG. I'm just super nervous! THANKS!

  1. Your experience will probably be different, since you've already had some tests. I think the first thing I would ask about is testing for your husband, because his fertility has to be taken into account, too. Even though you've had some things done, your RE will probably want to repeat them, esp blood work and ultrasound (not HSG).

At my first appt I had:

    Trans vag ultrasound

    Blood drawn

Consultation regarding health history for me and my husband

Appt set for s***n analysis for husband

Plan from doctor for additional tests and which drugs we were going to try, when, and for how long.

In your case, your doctor will probably address the causes of your annovulation first, since that seems like your biggest hurdle right now.

    Good luck.

  2. Sarah Jane's appointment sounds exactly like mine.  Three days later, my husband had his sperm checked.
